Previous Restoration Sector Projects from C.D. Moody Construction Company, Inc.
Type of Construction: Historic Preservation
Location: Atlanta, GA
Owner: Grady Health Systems
Project Description:
C.D. Moody Construction company had the unique opportunity of restoring Georgia Hall.
Originally built in 1890, the original Grady Hospital had been closed for several years prior to our renovations. We were given the opportunity to completely gut the interior of the building. In addition to hand cutting out the bell tower that held the original water tank for the facilities and in turn creating this space into and elevator shaft. This process was performed by being hand dug in order for modern day equipment to fit inside to build pit.
Due to the age of the facility it had to be structurally reinforced, new MEP equipment installed along with the replacement of windows and tuck point of the brick.
Currently the space is used as offices for Grady Hospital.

Project Description:
The Northyards Business Park is an urban reclamation project located in the center of Atlanta between the campus of Georgia Tech and the Georgia World Congress Center. The Southern Railway Company first established the existing warehouse complex, as early as 1911, as a turntable rail yard. The project’s Roundhouse was added in 1925 as a service facility for passenger trains and remained in use until the 1950’s. Throughout the twentieth century, warehouse facilities were added to the site between and around the existing railroad tracks, creating the site’s current configuration.
The Roundhouse, a National Historic Landmark, serves as the Northyards’ centerpiece and became a project unto itself within the larger scope of the program.
