Project Description:
The new construction involves two new three-story
classroom buildings, one story adminisitration area, science
labs, media center, and cafeteria theater area, that are located
to the rear of the property. Due to severe slope of the land
the three-story structures are virtually invisible from Second
Avenue, the front of the school. The exterior of the school
is a combination of dry stacked stone and cement board siding.
The original building has a membrane roof while the three-story
classroom buildings have an attractive asphalt shingle roof.
The combination of siding, stacked stone, and asphalt shingles
allow for this facility to blend in very nicely with the neighborhood
homes. The exterior of the building is further enhanced by
the use of a storefront punched window opening. The new school
is designed on a residential scale which blends into the neighborhood
atmosphere.
The Design/Build
project scope involved the demolition of the existing school.
The entire facility
is new construction.
